Chip Tha Ripper — New release through Karmaloop

28 Feb

Gift Raps is Chip Tha Rippers brand new mixtape being released in a collaboration between Karmaloop, Illroots, and Slabent.

Being completely produced by the veteran Chuck Inglish (of The Cool Kids), it’s no doubt that Chip is going to have strong beats backing him throughout this release.

Go ahead and grab Gift Raps here:

Here’s the video of 2nd track off of this release, “Light One Up”

Let the Children Techno (tracklist included)

28 Feb

Last week, French record label Ed Banger released its much-anticipated Let the Children Techno EP.

After its white-hot rise in popularity in 2007 following its release of Justice’s D.A.N.C.E single, and following album, this label has once again struck gold with LTCT. Featuring a mixture of different electronic artists, such as Duke Dumont, Siriusmo, Para One, and Tacteel, this album has a very palatable variety of electro, ranging from the simple, yet complex polyrhythms of Flying Lotus, to the Fatboy Slim-esque grooves of DJ Mehdi, even featuring a performance (although lacking) by classic dub artist, Skream. It’s not a perfect 10, (this album DEFINITELY has its duds) but be open-minded, sit back, and enjoy as Ed Banger flexes its “electro” muscles.

Flylo – Caravan of Delight:

Siriusmo -Idiot (this one’s a sleeper):

Here is the complete tracklist:

01. Mr Oizo – Let The Children Techno

Erykah Badu x Flying Lotus

28 Feb

It has been a few weeks since this video was released, but I thought I’d put it up anyway.

Flying Lotus is one of my favorite modern musicians based on his psychedelic hip hop producing style. But this video shows his ability to seamlessly put on a director’s cap and make visual art through complex and stylistic multimedia.

The song is called “Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long.” Check it out

Upcoming dubstep tunes from SKisM, Nostalgia, and Helicopter Showdown (preview clips)

28 Feb

While Excision & Downlink produced an absolute banger back in 2010 with “Heavy Artillery,” SKisM’s remix is looking to be incredible. Here’s the preview clip that he provided on soundcloud

Almost completely unknown in the dubstep world, we have Nostalgia. He has one release on Beatport, Crackin Skulls EP, which had a nice variety of Dubstep and Drumstep, and definitely deserves recognition. However, the clip below is one of the dubstep tracks that I am most excited for in 2011. The Zelda sample at the beginning is an automatic plus for me since I am a nerd who loves samples like that, and then the heavy drop is reminiscent of late Flux Pavilion, which is an amazing compliment. It’s a melodic and poppy dubstep song that doesn’t pull any punches whatsoever.

Finally, Helicopter Showdown has been doing huge things in 2011. His Wrestler EP was a breath of fresh air for the genre, mixing the melodic hooks and gated vocals of Skrillex with the heavy wobbles of Doctor P. Now he is collaborating with Sluggo again (like he did in his EP’s best/title track “The Wrestler”). For whatever reason, the soudcloud player is not showing up for this link, but if you just follow it to the official soundcloud site, then you’ll be able to hear it.

Donald Glover gaining steam in 2011

28 Feb

Donald Glover (AKA Childish Gambino), is having an amazing year. Along with NBC’s thursday night comedy, Community continuing on strong, Glover’s musical career is really taking off.

Below is the new video for Childish Gambino’s fiery new single “Freeks & Geeks.” If you haven’t already listened to this track, it’s a must. If you thought Glover was a clever writer from his experience writing for 30 Rock or Derrick Comedy, then just take a listen to these lyrics.

Here is another one of his 2011 projects. It’s a Jamie XX remix of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” which features an awesome verse from Childish Gambino.

Star Slinger’s new-ish video

28 Feb

A week or so ago, Star Slinger unveiled a very cool and very trippy video to his single “Mornin’.”

Each part of this project intrigues me. I love laid back hip hop productions, but this one in particular has a heavy disco influence. This just makes for an absolute groove bomb. And, aside from the actual song, the video is very simple, yet creative, with really nice post-production effects. Check it out below

And speaking of trip hop and crazy music videos, I just can’t help but throw this video into this post…it’s just too great. Blockhead never ceases to amaze me

New Bare EP & bootleg

28 Feb

Bare is a hardworking dubstep producer who has put out a few bangers in the past.

Now he is signed to Dieselboy’s Record Label, SubHuman, which released his new Hard As Hell EP today on Beatport (link below).

One of the tracks off of this EP has just gotten promoted by UKF’s Dubstep youtube channel…

And in addition to this huge release by Bare and the SubHuman team, they decided to give us fans a FREE 320 kbps download of a Bare bootleg of The Game’s “Purp & Yellow.” Here is the soundcloud link (which includes a free download)

Avicii continuing his rise in the house world

28 Feb

Ever since I heard his pulse-pounding bootleg of Bob Sinclar’s “New New New,” I’ve had my eye on Avicii.

He did not disappoint last year when he released what came to be my favorite house song of 2010, “Seek Bromance.”

Just the other day he released a remix of Armin Van Buuren’s new single “Drowning” (Beatport link below).

Here it is

And I thought I might as well show you what song I claimed to be my favorite of 2010, so here it is below

Liquid DnB

28 Feb

Is there anything more relaxing than some melodic and uplifting Drum & Bass?

It took me a while to get into this genre, but lately I can’t stop listening to it.

See for yourself, you’ll have trouble not zoning out.

Here are a few of my fav liquid dnb songs from the past few months…enjoy

Hot new EP from Torqux & Twist — out today on Rottun Records!

28 Feb

This may seem like a wildly hyperbolic statement, but this is one of the best, if not the best, dubstep release I’ve ever heard. Each of the 4 songs are equally HUGE, and these guys have perfected the monster synth that Skrillex has brought to the forefront of dubstep.

So many EPs have 1 or 2 bangers, but will lose my interest at some point. However, this EP’s energy and power never let up.

Torqux & Twist have been around for a little while now, releasing a few EPs and numerous singles/remixes in the past. Well, this new EP entitled “Unleashed” is definitely their heaviest, darkest, and most well written yet.

I could go on and on, but you all should just pick it up on Beatport. Here’s the link:

Also, here is one of my favorite songs off of it…
