Beatport is making efforts to help raise money for Japan

21 Mar

Today on Monday, March 21st, every single dollar made in sales on the online music retailing powerhouse will go directly to relief in Japan.

This is incredibly generous considering that the website is far and away the most robust retailer for anything EDM.

So, if you were waiting to make a purchase on Beatport, today is the day to do it. All of the money you spend today will be going to a great cause. Below is a link to Beatport.

Tron remix album, R3C0NF1GUR3D, getting closer to release — tracklist included

21 Mar

Everyone loved Daft Punk’s venture into the official composing game with their highly acclaimed score to Disney’s Tron: Legacy in 2010. The album release of this score was even well renown and sold very well even though it was not a standard electro/house release like the duo is famous for.

Well, now all of the songs from that score are being remixed by the likes of The Glitch Mob, The Crystal Method, Kaskade, Avicii, and many more.

Reconfigured is set to release on the same date that the DVD/Blu-Ray of the film is released, April 5th.

Here is the full tracklist:
01. Derezzed (The Glitch Mob remix)

Brand new Deadmau5 tracks streaming on Soundcloud

14 Mar

Over the past 24 hours, Deadmau5 has released two full length songs under his soundcloud “fml” moniker. This is the page where he’s put up his old demos and experimental tracks (often inspired by Minecraft…lol).

First up is the entirely ambient, yet gorgeous “Bleed.” Put this song on in the background as you study and you’ll be zoning out.

The other track harkens back to his days of “Clockwork” when he’d have epic, long, moody progressive house tracks. This track, titled “HR 8908 Cephei” is fairly minimal at parts, but groovy throughout…I think I like this one track more than the entirety of “4×4=12.”

The Legend of Zelda — new trend in the electronic music world?

14 Mar

At the end of last month, I made a post about upcoming dubstep tracks. Among that list was a song called “The Hero” by an up-and-comer, appropriately named Nostalgia. It featured an intro sampling the old-school theme song to the video game classic, The Legend of Zelda. We can expect that song to drop later this month on Play Me Too Records.

Now we have another EDM song to look forward to coming out this month featuring the legendary sample.

Zedd, an extremely hard working electro house producer, made famous by a couple of high profile Skrillex remixes, is now giving his fans a blast from the past. On Bazooka Records, he’ll be releasing his single “The Legend of Zelda,” along with Electrixx’s remix of it on March 21st. I have yet to hear the Electrixx remix, but it’s sure to be sick considering some of their fiery electro house tunes in the past like “Tetris” and “Tokyo Rush.”

Here’s a clip of Nostalgia’s dubstep take on the Zelda theme:

This is Zedd’s electro house take on it:

And just for fun…here’s Deadmau5′ old mix of “You Need A Ladder” which used this sample for an intro:

Sorry for my inability to make posts this past week…college midterms will do that to you.
Ok, back to the music…

Spencer & Hill — new remix and preview of upcoming single

7 Mar

This german electro duo first caught my attention when I heard their own mix of their song with Bastian Van Shield, “Cantina.” If you haven’t already heard it, this energetic electro bomb samples the famous Star Wars Cantina theme (youtube link at the bottom of this article).

Well, Spencer & Hill moved from being fairly unknown up and comers and into the spotlight once their single “Yeah Yeah Yeah” was released this January. This song charted in the top half of Beatport’s top-selling Electro House tracks of that period, and was included in Dirtyloud’s New Year’s Chart.

After the success of this song, Spencer & Hill went on to release a remix of Ned Sheperd, Sultan, and Nadia Ali’s single “Call My Name.” You can get it if you follow the Beatport link below.

Also, just this morning, Spencer & Hill uploaded a clip onto soundcloud of one of their upcoming tunes. Here’s the link:

This is that “Cantina” mix I was telling you about earlier.

You can get it for free on their official website below:

Let the Children Techno (tracklist included)

28 Feb

Last week, French record label Ed Banger released its much-anticipated Let the Children Techno EP.

After its white-hot rise in popularity in 2007 following its release of Justice’s D.A.N.C.E single, and following album, this label has once again struck gold with LTCT. Featuring a mixture of different electronic artists, such as Duke Dumont, Siriusmo, Para One, and Tacteel, this album has a very palatable variety of electro, ranging from the simple, yet complex polyrhythms of Flying Lotus, to the Fatboy Slim-esque grooves of DJ Mehdi, even featuring a performance (although lacking) by classic dub artist, Skream. It’s not a perfect 10, (this album DEFINITELY has its duds) but be open-minded, sit back, and enjoy as Ed Banger flexes its “electro” muscles.

Flylo – Caravan of Delight:

Siriusmo -Idiot (this one’s a sleeper):

Here is the complete tracklist:

01. Mr Oizo – Let The Children Techno
02. Busy P – Procrastinator
03. Duke Dumont – Hipgnosis
04. Siriusmo – Idiot
05. Para One & Tacteel – Infinity Riser (remix of Bernard Fevre’s Dali)
06. Breakbot – Shades Of Black
07. Sebastian – Enio
08. Mattie Safer (ft. Telli from Ninjasonik) – Is That Your Girl?
09. Gesaffelstein – The Voice
10. Cassius – Shark Simple (L-VIS 1990 & The Neon Dreams Remix)
11. DJEdjotronic – The Invisible Landscape
12. Discodeine – Grace
13. Feadz (ft. Claude Violante) – Far From Home
14. Brodinski & Tony Senghore – Anagogue
15. Bobmo – Control
16. Zombie Nation – Relax
17. Riton – One Night Stand
18. Skream – Boat Party
19. DJ Mehdi – TragicoMehdi
