Clipse with Tiron, Nickelus F, and Phil Ade at University of Virginia

Just last Saturday, Push T and Malice had a homecoming reunion concert at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Clipse, a duo composed of these two talented brothers, has not seen too much action in the past couple years, but after Pusha T’s moves with Kanye and G.O.O.D. Music late last year, and subsequent release of Fear of God, it is safe to say that the group got its swag back. Along with the likes of  D.C. native, Phil Ade, and Richmond artist Nickelus F, this Old Dominion supergroup was set to return in style.

I must give props to UVa’s Student Hip Hop Organization for publicizing and putting together such a big concert. Anyways, they provided us with an interesting video that captures the essence of the night, and shows us what Clipse and these fellow Virginians are all about: meaningful, responsive, and just plain good rap.

Pusha T’s “Fear of God” mixtape out today — link for FREE download!

Pusha T, has been working incredibly hard on this mixtape, since his many features on G.O.O.D. Music artists’ releases. Also, he has only recently started doing his own work aside from his Clipse duo with his brother, Gene, so this mixtape is a huge step forward.

Many delays have pushed back the release date, but finally we have the release… Best of all, it is available for free!

More Zelda sampling — “Ocarina of Rhyme”

I feel like a broken record having just talked about The Legend of Zelda samples yesterday, and I know this remix album came out long ago in spring of 2009, but it’s too awesome not to bring up.

With this album, Team Teamwork compiled many of the beloved songs from the Zelda world (such as the themes to “The Lost Woods,” “The Great Fairy Fountain,” and “Finding Treasure” to name a few) and mashed them up with the beats and acapella tracks to classic Hip Hop songs.
