Skrillex featured in the new trailer for Playstation’s Uncharted 3

24 Apr

This is the second time, this month, that Skrillex’s music has been used in a trailer for a video game. First, his “Reptile” track was used in the main trailer for the new Mortal Kombat 9.

Now, the trailer showcasing the brand new multiplayer modes and features inUncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is all to the tune of Skrillex’s original mix and Bare Noize’s dubstep remix of “Kill Everybody.”

Just for fun, here is the aforementioned Mortal Kombat 9 trailer featuring Skrillex’s “Reptile.”

Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by the Warriors (tracklist included)

15 Apr

With the brand new Mortal Kombat’s April 19th release date quickly approaching, I thought I’d take a minute to comment on the amazing soundtrack.

Instead of just going for the standard fighting game soundtrack complete with orchestral ebbs and flows possibly mixed with hard-driving rock aspects, this game went in a wholly different direction.

This game’s soundtrack is comprised completely of original tracks made by various current DJs and producers. Each of these electronic music artists was given the task of creating a song for a specific character. Here’s the tracklist so you have an idea

01. Scorpion – JFK (of MSTRKRFT)
02. Mileena – Tokimonsta
03. Sub-Zero – Harvard Bass
04. Liu Kang – Congorock
05. Goro – Bird Peterson
06. Reptile – Skrillex
07. Raiden – 9th Wonder
08. Johnny Cage – LA Riots
09. Baraka – Run DMT
10. Kung Lao – Felix Cartal
11. Kano – Them Jeans
12. Shao Kahn – Sound Of Stereo

There’s something for everybody on this album…Skrillex’s “Reptile” is a downtempo club feel but with his hard dubstep synths. Run DMT’s “Baraka” is a pulse-pounding drumstep tune. 9th Wonder captures a hip hop feel with his theme for Raiden. There’s even some standard electro-house in the “Liu Kang,” “Sub-Zero,” and “Johnny Cage” tracks.

But even though this soundtrack covers so much ground, all of the songs seem to be matched up well for the game and I could imagine many late nights playing this game and listening to the various original songs by these great artists.

Upcoming Skrillex tracks

29 Mar

Ever since his release, Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites, fans have been waiting so patiently for new Skrillex songs. He’s previewed many songs in his live shows but has had very little in the way of official releases. In this article, I’ll show 3 new songs of his. Although all of the previews are low quality, they’re at least some sort of sneak peek.

First up is a song that Skrillex has been playing live for a couple months now, but it got an official premier on BBC’s March 22 Radio 1 program. It’s going to be titled “First of the Year”

This next song has also been played live for a couple months. It’s going to be in the upcoming iteration in the Mortal Kombat series. This is Skrillex’s personal theme music for the character Reptile (it is named after him). Here’s a short clip of it that was ripped from a live streaming session he did.

And here is the official Mortal Kombat commercial that features “Reptile”

Finally, Skrillex linked his twitter followers to a fan’s video of him performing at Laidback Luke’s ‘Super You and Me’ party. The opening track from this set is a brand new drumstep song which is incredibly hard-hitting.
