Let the Children Techno (tracklist included)

28 Feb

Last week, French record label Ed Banger released its much-anticipated Let the Children Techno EP.

After its white-hot rise in popularity in 2007 following its release of Justice’s D.A.N.C.E single, and following album, this label has once again struck gold with LTCT. Featuring a mixture of different electronic artists, such as Duke Dumont, Siriusmo, Para One, and Tacteel, this album has a very palatable variety of electro, ranging from the simple, yet complex polyrhythms of Flying Lotus, to the Fatboy Slim-esque grooves of DJ Mehdi, even featuring a performance (although lacking) by classic dub artist, Skream. It’s not a perfect 10, (this album DEFINITELY has its duds) but be open-minded, sit back, and enjoy as Ed Banger flexes its “electro” muscles.

Upcoming dubstep tunes from SKisM, Nostalgia, and Helicopter Showdown (preview clips)

28 Feb

While Excision & Downlink produced an absolute banger back in 2010 with “Heavy Artillery,” SKisM’s remix is looking to be incredible. Here’s the preview clip that he provided on soundcloud

Almost completely unknown in the dubstep world, we have Nostalgia. He has one release on Beatport, Crackin Skulls EP, which had a nice variety of Dubstep and Drumstep, and definitely deserves recognition. However, the clip below is one of the dubstep tracks that I am most excited for in 2011. The Zelda sample at the beginning is an automatic plus for me since I am a nerd who loves samples like that, and then the heavy drop is reminiscent of late Flux Pavilion, which is an amazing compliment. It’s a melodic and poppy dubstep song that doesn’t pull any punches whatsoever.

Finally, Helicopter Showdown has been doing huge things in 2011. His Wrestler EP was a breath of fresh air for the genre, mixing the melodic hooks and gated vocals of Skrillex with the heavy wobbles of Doctor P. Now he is collaborating with Sluggo again (like he did in his EP’s best/title track “The Wrestler”). For whatever reason, the soudcloud player is not showing up for this link, but if you just follow it to the official soundcloud site, then you’ll be able to hear it.

Hot new EP from Torqux & Twist — out today on Rottun Records!

28 Feb

This may seem like a wildly hyperbolic statement, but this is one of the best, if not the best, dubstep release I’ve ever heard. Each of the 4 songs are equally HUGE, and these guys have perfected the monster synth that Skrillex has brought to the forefront of dubstep.

So many EPs have 1 or 2 bangers, but will lose my interest at some point. However, this EP’s energy and power never let up.

Torqux & Twist have been around for a little while now, releasing a few EPs and numerous singles/remixes in the past. Well, this new EP entitled “Unleashed” is definitely their heaviest, darkest, and most well written yet.

I could go on and on, but you all should just pick it up on Beatport. Here’s the link:

Also, here is one of my favorite songs off of it…
